Happy Summer Solstice and Happy Father’s Day
June 20-21, 2021
Summer Solstice- when we’re closest to the sun in the northern hemisphere...

That means there is an absolute abundance of that rich fire energy available for you & me to soak up. We can use that energy to inspire us, to uplift us, to energize us. To light our fires.
This year, Father’s day and summer solstice aligns on the same day.
For our family, the Kim family, it’s the first time we’re celebrating without our Patriarch, my Abba. He passed away December 11, 2020 and we all miss him and still mourn for him.

My father was a tough, strong, strict, hardworking, generous and a lover of life. As I remember him and come to terms with our childhood, I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to heal my heart and relationship by understanding my own father’s pain, fears, hardships and trauma. It took me over 10 years of intense, intimate and courageous work through yoga, meditation, writing and honest communication to forgive him, myself and our circumstances so that when it was time to say goodbye, I, we were at peace.
Summer solstice reminds me that we need to dive deep into the depths of our own sun, our heart, to resolve pain and relationships that keep us in the dark.
I feel so grateful to have by my side my partner, my husband Jose’, a wonderful man and father to our children.
He, unlike my father has a soft but strong heart.
He has taught me to love, to forgive and to appreciate my father as I watched him help raise our children. Even though Jose’ himself had a tough childhood with a tough father too, he consciously made a decision to be nothing like his dad.

Having sons, I have been conscious on how to raise them. The old school of being tough, “boys don’t cry”, ”suck it up” and hide your emotions was definitely not taught in our home.
We taught our boys to have integrity, keep our words, it’s ok to be afraid, to express themselves, to be kind and compassionate to self and others and to be soft, gentle and loving for these characteristics are actually being a strong man!
Life is a constant evolution, discovery and recovery of our challenges, the highs and lows. May we keep turning in to the sunlight within as we celebrate each other and all of life‘s abundant blessings. May we always create a beautiful home sweet home, where we can be our true selves and to be feel loved and belonging.
Happy Summer Solstice and Happy Father’s Day.
The light in me recognizes the light in you.
Namaste’
